I receive dozens of emails a week from members of the public asking about the Fair. It’s fantastic to see how excited you get and we’re still seven weeks away!
One of the most common questions I’m asked is if we sell booth space to artists. We don’t. Art Toronto is Canada’s foremost presentation of international contemporary art galleries, and is just not the right venue for unrepresented artists.
Here’s the rub, and this is just one of the reasons that it’s such a boon to be part of the MMPI family of shows and conferences. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you The Artist Project. With 150 artists and 10,000+ visitors it’s a fantastic venue for artists.
Another question I get is about the type of arts featured at the fair. I’ve been reading the trade lit and yes, there are certainly many questions and queries out there about what constitutes contemporary art. Luckily, Art Toronto doesn’t need to make any specific definitions and instead relies on it’s roster of illustrious galleries to do the trailblazing. But it makes us the wrong venue for artisans and craftspeople whose creations might be better suited to a craft show. But you better believe there’s an MMPI show for that too! The One of a Kind show and sale is offered in Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago and New York and is the be-all, end-all place for all things craft and artisan.
